On August 19th 2021, Microsoft announced that a substantial amount of their 365 plans would be receiving price increases.
Microsoft states that their reasoning for these price increases is that this is the first substantiative pricing update since the launch of Office 365 over a decade ago, and they have now decided to update their pricing to reflect the value they believe has be added to the Office 365 platform over time.
Since the launch of Office 365 over 10 years ago, Microsoft has added 24 apps to the suites -Microsoft Teams, Power Apps, Power BI, Power Automate, Stream, Planner, Visio, OneDrive, Yammer and Whiteboard- and have released more than 1,400 new features and capabilities across their range of offerings.
Alongside the announcement of a pricing update, Microsoft also announced extended audio conferencing capabilities by adding unlimited dial-in capabilities for Microsoft Teams meetings.
Taking these facts into account, it is understandable why they have decided to update the current pricing structure.
Microsoft’s New Commerce Experience will soon increase the prices of the following 365 SKUs:
The new price increases for the different effected plans range from 8.6% up to 25%.
These pricing updates will not come into effect until 1st March 2022.
Please be advised that these prices are in USD as any global prices have not yet been released, however, Microsoft has announced that these increases will apply globally with local market adjustments for certain regions.
Once we reach 1st March 2022, the new pricing update will come into effect and your business will be required to start paying the increased rate.
