Microsoft Price Rise 2023

Microsoft Price Rise 2023

January 8, 2023

Important Microsoft Pricing Update

Microsoft has announced, that as of 1st April 2023, they will be introducing a pan-European price change to Microsoft Cloud services due to recent global currency exchange rate fluctuations.

What does this mean for you?

This means that GBP prices will be increasing by 9% from 1st April 2023 for new and renewing annual subscriptions, and monthly subscriptions.

Microsofts' motivation is to create a greater price harmonisation for all Microsoft Cloud products across the globe, ensuring customers worldwide have more closely aligned pricing compared to the USD rate.

Azure NCE subscriptions have their GBP prices set at the start of each month using the Reuters mid-market FX rate vs. USD, therefore Azure costs are not affected by this pricing change.

This is the first step of Microsoft establishing a twice annual review, and adjustment, of prices based on currency fluctuations relative to the USD.  Their aim is to provide a simplified structure with greater transparency and predictability for customers.

Beat the Price Rise Renewal Cost Changes

Last year Microsoft raised the prices of the following 6 SKU's and in order to 'Beat the Price Rise' many of you purchased annual subscriptions of these services before the price rise took effect.

• Microsoft 365 Business Basic

• Microsoft 365 Business Premium

• Microsoft 365 E3

• Office 365 E1

• Office 365 E3

• Office 365 E5

10% Price Rise for SQL Server

Microsoft announced in November 2022 that SQL Server pricing will increase by 10% in line with the launch of SQL Server 2022 this month, excluding SQL Azure.

This new pricing applies to all the on-premises editions of SQL Server (Enterprise, Standard & Web) across all channels.

Legacy CSP Price Changes

Microsoft's pricing changes for legacy CSP subscriptions came into effect as planned on 1st January 2023, meaning legacy CSP is 5% more expensive than NCE.
